IPv6 test

This test checks whether your connection can reach the internet over IPv4 and IPv6.

IPv4
216.73.217.116
IPv6
Not tested on this connection (we can only see the address your browser used)
Preferred
IPv4 (216.73.217.116)

Connected over IPv4. Your browser preferred IPv4 for this visit, which usually means IPv6 is not available on your connection.

About IPv6

IPv6 is the newer Internet Protocol, with 128-bit addresses. If your result shows IPv6 as “Not detected”, your ISP or router has not enabled it yet.

How do I enable IPv6?

IPv6 support depends on your internet provider and router. Check your router settings for an IPv6 option, or ask your ISP whether they offer IPv6.

Is it bad if I have no IPv6?

Not really. Almost all sites still work over IPv4, but IPv6 can avoid carrier-grade NAT and is the future of the internet.
