Afrihost IP address & ASN guide
Afrihost is one of South Africa’s largest consumer ISPs. Its fibre customers connect over many fibre networks (Openserve, Vumatel, Frogfoot, MetroFibre and others), but internet traffic is routed through Afrihost’s own network, AS37611. That means your IP lookup usually shows Afrihost, not the fibre company whose cable reaches your house.

You don’t appear to be on Afrihost right now — your IP belongs to Anthropic, PBC.
Afrihost ASNs and IP ranges
- AS37611
- AFRIHOST SP (PTY) LTD · 738 IPv4 / 301 IPv6 prefixes originated
An ASN (autonomous system number) identifies a network on the internet. Any IP address announced by these ASNs belongs to Afrihost. Paste an address into the IP lookup to see which ASN it falls under.
CGNAT on Afrihost
Afrihost fibre accounts generally get a public IPv4 address, usually dynamic; fixed IPs are offered as an add-on. Afrihost’s mobile and LTE products ride on mobile operators’ networks, so they show that operator’s IP and use CGNAT. Afrihost announces a large amount of IPv6 space.
To check: compare your router’s WAN address with the IP on FernTool. If they differ, or the WAN IP is in 100.64.0.0/10, you are behind CGNAT. More on CGNAT.
How to find your IP on Afrihost
- Public IP: open ferntool.com or run
curl https://www.ferntool.com. - Private IP and router address: see how to find your IP on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android.
- IPv6: run the IPv6 test.
Good to know
If your lookup shows Telkom, MTN or Vodacom while you have an Afrihost LTE product, that is expected — the mobile network carries the traffic.
Frequently asked questions
What is Afrihost’s ASN?
Afrihost announces its IP addresses from AS37611 (bgp.he.net, 16 October 2026).
Does Afrihost use CGNAT?

How do I find my Afrihost IP address?
Open www.ferntool.com on a device connected through Afrihost. The page shows your public IP, the network that owns it and its ASN. For your private IP, check your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
Why does my Afrihost IP show a different city?
IP geolocation is approximate. South African networks often register address blocks to a head office or a large city, so the city shown may not be where you are. The country and network are much more reliable.
